You don't survive nearly 140 years in retail by letting history treat you like a doormat. Heck, no. You evolve, you adapt, you add 5,000-square-feet of shoes. With reconfigured departments, style consultants sporting iPads, a continent's worth of added European offerings, and, yes, 5,000 added square feet of shoes (!!!), Bloomingdale's 59th Street store is ready for another century and a half of stylish service. To make sure the new renovations are up to snuff, we sent a retail test-driver with an unimpeachable sense of style and a highly sensitive B.S. detector — Leandra Medine (aka, The Man Repeller) to Bloomie's. The dogged fashion skeptic perused the racks of Sandro, Maje, Reiss, Ted Baker, and Zadig and Voltaire ready-to-wear on the second floor and returned with a big smile (and a few additions to her wardrobe).
