When most women hear the words "blue eyeshadow," sexy is not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind. For many of us, we immediately flash back to the '80s and that weird, frosted blue shadow that every girl was inexplicably obsessed with (or that scene from My Girl). Thankfully, in this decade we're not limited to unflattering blue hues for our gazes, and yet, that irrational fear of blue makeup still prevails.
Recently, we got the chance to go behind the scenes with Victoria's Secret Angel Lindsay Ellingson as she filmed a how-to video with celebrity makeup artist Polly Osmond. The video teaches you how to create a dramatic, smoky blue eye using the brand's new Eye Shadow Quad in Work It. "Blue is a great summer color to wear," says Osmond. "Everyone gets stuck on wearing browns and blacks, and I think it's important for people to understand that they can actually wear a color. And the blue's a very dark blue, it's not one of those bright blues — I would call it a neutral blue. People shouldn't be frightened of it."
Granted, Lindsay would probably look amazing in glittery, sky blue shadow too, but we like this look much better. Watch the video to get the scoop from Polly on how to re-create this smoldering makeup at home.
