Fragrance and fashion collide with our favorite scents (and looks) of the season. By Ryan Haase
As the calendar creeps closer to the holidays, who doesn't feel compelled to up the fashion ante—accessories and other finishing pieces make a look more festive, and that goes for fragrance, too. With the Dow doing somersaults, it even seems apropos to invest a little extra in a great seasonal scent (even at $200 a bottle, it's a lot more affordable than a Miu Miu bag). We decided to match our favorite fragrances of the moment with all the right runway looks. Which girl are you? Read on for your perfect look in a bottle.
Sottile 1.61 by Yosh—The Tomboy
Sottile's light subtly feminine tea-rose essence would be ideal for the girl who naturally tends toward an androgynous, tomboy sensibility. Think gamine-cropped hair, clean modern separates with menswear details. Clean and confident…with a little floral twist. Jil Sander, Calvin Klein, or Rag & Bone fit the bill. $130, available at B Glowing.

Lys by 06130—The Soft Conceptualist
Minimal and a little bit elegant, Lys spotlights water lily and lemon mixed with hints of bergamot, musk, and sandalwood. Ethereal but also a little earthy, we definitely get a feel for something architectural but a bit cerebral, too. Stella McCartney or Roksanda anyone? $110, available at Lucky Scent.

Pulp by Byredo—The Sensual Preppy
Just a year-old, the Stockholm-based company Byredo crafted this scent using fig, cedar, cardamom, and black currant with hits of apple and peach flower. The sharp mix of sweet and green softens up to some woodsy notes over time, which makes us imagine a preppy sensualist sort of spirit. Paul Smith or Shipley & Halmos definitely hits the right chords. $195, available at Barneys New York.

Opium by YSL—The Hedonist
No question, YSL's Opium makes us yearn for that power-party decade of totally gluttony and excess, the '80s. Just imagine a rich blend of mandarin and bergamot lifted up by vanilla, patchouli, and amber. Decadence defined, Opium is voluptuous, spicy, and over-the-top sexy, and it just never goes out of style…sort of like YSL itself. Balmain fits the bill, too. $112, available at YSL Beauty.
