The New East Village Industrial Gastropub That Actually Feels Like Home

Though an open, industrial space with metal, spinning stools, wooden benches, and marked-up mirrors may not sound welcoming, new East Village eatery, Boulton & Watt, makes you want to sit, and stay, and order, annnnnd drink for hours on end. Not that you'd need an excuse to indulge in stiff and creative cocktails amongst dim lighting and great music, but the just-opened spot is still a little hush-hush, meaning you could actually get a reservation during hours when you'd actually want to eat. Should you come hungry: Favorites like crisp mushroom balls with pesto, rich mac 'n' cheese, rib and bone marrow toasts, and a cookie cake that comes in a frying pan with a pitcher of milk (seriously) have a decadent and homemade feel that will leave you full and warm for the cold walk home. That is, if the Mexican Revolvers, the Old Sages, the Apple Martinis, and the Bloody Boulton concoctions didn't do the trick.
