Just because cats spend the majority of their time indoors doesn't necessarily mean they like it. While we're out sunbathing on rooftops, they're probably secretly despising us. Until now. For felines who want to get their tan on, "catios" — yes, patios for cats — are all the rage. The fenced outdoor menageries are showing up all over Instagram, and it seems their inhabitants couldn't be happier. While at first glance some appear to be glorified zoo cages, we're impressed with some of the modern amenities, from landscaped gardens to multiple perches, and even suspended bridges.
This of course follows on the heels of the ever-popular "she shed," the lady version of a "man cave." The she shed, a space detached from a single-family home, is where a woman might retire to do ladies' things, such as take tea and hot glue pom-pom fringe onto the edge of her Longaberger baskets.
We don't know if we need one, or if we even really want one, but the thirst for a space dedicated to one's specific gender or species-related needs seems to be unquenchable. Click over to Good Housekeeping to see some more meow-approved catios and find out how to build one for your own feline.
