CBGB & OMFUG, the shuttered Bowery homestead for punk and late '70s new wave. didn't ditch the game entirely upon its 2006 closing. Yes, it's back in New York! This time, it's gearing up for the CBGB festival and YOU can be there, for FREE. The revived fest promises a post-July 4 celebration of hard rock, harder booze, old films, and new ones like The Rise and Fall of the Clash — a docu about the rise and fall of the Brit band, plus full-length features like "Vinyl." Over 300 bands are on tap to go live between July 5 and July 8, playing across 40 different venues, and we're giving away two combo passes — worth $499 each! — so you can pick and choose (but not pay!) your way through the fun. See acts like Wyclef Jean, Cloud Nothings, Lissie Trulie, Pains of Being Pure At Heart, and Cloud Nothings at Manhattan staples like Central Park SummerStage, The Box, LPR, The Living Room, and even outerborough spots like Brooklyn Bowl.
Tell us your most bad-ass concert moment in the comments below, and we'll get back to you with a winner before your latest bender's over (so your new one, courtesy of CBGB and us, can begin). Rock (and comment) on.
