Did you sneak away from your family and the S.O. you brought home for the holidays to furtively text your little bit o' something on the side? Well, not only are you a lousy example of a human being (seriously, we thought we knew you), but you're also part of a sad, sad trend. In an article in The Register, one of Britain's top divorce lawyers, Ayesha Vardag, claims that Christmas is high season for being caught cheating.
If you're wondering how so many people get nailed when they should be drinking eggnog with the clan, you can blame modern technology. Says Vardag, "There are a lot of text message 'bustings' on Christmas Day, usually because the husband leaves the phone around and the mistress is sending messages." Wow, bummer.

Not only does such behavior lead to totally awkward New Year's Eves, The Register states that it also creates a glut of divorce filings in the New Year...right before Valentine's Day! Ugh, double bummer. Well, here's hoping that your circle of loved ones was spared, or, at least that you kept your phone out of sight...you cheating cheater. (The Register via Business Insider)
