This Is Our Jam: Chvrches, “Now Is Not The Time”

Glaswegian electro-pop trio Chvrches has been turning heads since well before its Recover EP dropped last month, but for the uninitiated, "Now Is Not The Time" is a nice starting point to the band's synth-saturated sound. A slow burner that brings to mind countless hormonally charged proms, the track sees lead singer Lauren Mayberry (quavering, lovestruck) backed by bandmate Iain Cook (cavernous, removed) for a maximum emotional gut-punch. The video, with its gothic roller-rink setting, just adds to the song's vibe of fleeting teenage romance. Like skaters going round and round, it's a track that's just as hypnotic on it's third, fifth, of 15th spin.
