When it comes to watch-wearing, people fall into one of two decidedly different (and very strict) camps: those who swear by these delightfully old-fashioned time-tellers, and those who prefer to consult other sources in order to maintain punctuality (read: cell phones.) Toronto-based jewelry line Big Tinsel has found an accessory to appeal to members of both groups: colorblocked post-watch bracelets.
Taking the bodies of vintage, broken-down watches, Big Tinsel’s Maria Crowland swaps out the non-working mechanism and paints the faces with solid, vibrant colors. Replacing the glass when she’s done, Crowland’s end result is a thin bangle that looks like a cool, lo-fi version of high-end bling. The price point is perfect (under $30) and these would look really cool both on their own and layered with real, working watches (meta!). Sure, these pieces not tell time, but they do manage to reach a new level of cool, when it comes to baubles.
