Co-owners Alessandro Zampedri and Sanford Kunkel have revamped what used to be The Prince Hotel—a temporary lodging for soldiers returning from World War II in the 1940s—into a chic hotel that preserves many of the buildings' original details.

Although the rooms are just as small as they always were, several of them have been gussied-up with 300 thread-count sheets and other luxe touches. But for those of you who want to go old school, you can stay in their "original cabins", which have been restored down to every last historic detail (tall people: this means beds that are slightly shorter than standard twin size!). All of the bathrooms are communal—we know, it's not ideal—but they feature Italian marble floors, designer fixtures, and bath products from Red Flower, so you won't feel too bad about sharing.
