Hooray for hometown talent!

chatted with 27-year-old Gaithersburg native Michelle Ochs and her partner Carly Cushnie, the dynamic design duo behind Cushnie et Ochs, to give us a little early taste of Fashion Week action. Already kind of a big deal, the designers created a custom dress for Michelle Obama back in December — if that's not a sartorial stamp of approval, we don't know what is.
The designers give a little preview of their fall '12 line, noting that it's inspired by Belle de Jour and has sexy-feminine elements like lace, see-through tops, and corseting, which Ochs acknowledges are quite a stretch from the modest uniform she wore in private school in D.C. Sounds amazing to us — and hey, if the First Lady is a fan, you know they're doing something right. If you want to check out the pieces in person, head to Saks Jandel in Chevy Chase.
