Tell us if this sounds familiar: You start the season off with the best of gift-bestowing intentions, all warm and fuzzy, and overflowing with eggnog-induced generosity. New iPad for Dad! A Keurig coffee machine for Mom! Some super-stylin' threads for the beau! But by the time you've crossed a few names off the list, it’s looking like Dad might get a hand-written “IOU Something Awesome” note under the tree. Before you empty your bank account and resort to certificates for foot rubs and elementary-school art projects, take a little hiatus from the shops and hit up Goodwill’s Gift-Giving 101 Holiday Workshop tomorrow. The free event is hosted by the creative and thrifty Goodwill Fashionista blogger, who will school attendees on how to find the diamonds in the rough within those intimidatingly massive secondhand troves. You’ll get the scoop on the best times to shop and how to pick perfect and stylish gifts for everyone on your list. Better still? The workshop will be held at Goodwill's new Rockville location an hour before it officially opens, so you can apply your newfound skills to fresh, never-been-shopped stock! To top it all off, you'll snag a discount on your next Goodwill purchase. Finally, a lesson that doesn't cost us a dime.
When: Saturday, December 3, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Where: Goodwill Store and Donation Center, 4890 Boiling Brook Parkway, Rockville; 301-881-0744. Sign up here.
