They say birds of a feather flock together, and it seems the rich-and-single flock has been migrating to the DMV lately. Washingtonian reports on several recent studies that all point to the same conclusion: The suburbs around D.C. are chock-full of affluent singles (who, one assumes, are indeed looking to mingle).
Bethesda takes the number-one spot in the country for high incomes; Alexandria and Arlington both qualify among the nation's top hotspots for young professionals. While we're not totally sold on a methodology that uses the number of sing-along piano bars as a metric for a city's hotness — yes, you read that correctly — the results do jive with previous findings.

Other metro areas that scored high in the rankings? Boston, Denver, and Los Angeles, for starters. But, we have to say: We think D.C.'s appeal goes beyond straight-up statistics...then again, all that disposable income does make for a pretty sweet shopping scene. (Washingtonian)
