Want to do something way more interesting than dinner and a movie on V-Day? Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens has just the thing: Snag a $50 ticket to Guns & Roses, the opening benefit for The Style that Ruled the Empires: Russia, Napoleon and 1812, an exhibition that showcases Russian and French cultural artifacts from the period following Russia's triumph over Napoleon in the War of 1812 — think ornate paintings, porcelain, clothing, Napoleonic armor, and more. In between musing over elaborate works of art, partake in a vodka tasting and a Russian- and French-inspired cocktail-and-dessert buffet. Oh, and you'll get to take home a bouquet of roses, too, as an added sweet touch.
When: Tuesday, February 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: 4155 Linnean Avenue NW; 202-686-5807. Attire is creative cocktail.
