Rebecca Sinn
Occupation:
"Entertainment Editor, Glamour. I’m responsible for booking celebrities for the magazine, keeping abreast of the movies, shows, music, and pop culture that's suitable for our girls — which means I watch tons of movies, loads of television, and semi-Twitter-stalk some celebrities (but not in a creepy way!). I started out working in the mailroom of CAA in Beverly Hills before landing a job at Vanity Fair's special events department. I manned the door (with a ton of security guards) at the magazine's famous Oscar Party before segueing into booking celebrities for glossies."
What were your first pair of jeans?
"My first memorable pair of jeans was definitely Diesel Bold’s purchased circa 1995 at the Diesel store in Manhattan after pleading with my parents that $100 isn’t too much for a pair of jeans."
First look: "My favorite piece of clothing ever — Citizens of Humanity denim overalls with my new Loeffler Randall sandles and a striped top from the Gap. In the spring, summer, and fall, I pretty much live in overalls on the weekends. They are super soft and I love slipping on a pair of heels with them for a fun dinner or just wearing them with crisp white Keds."
Second look:"I’m wearing a Built by Wendy denim blouse, and J. Brand wide-leg jeans with tons of bangles – a mixture of new, old, cheap, and even a little Hermès."
How many pairs of jeans do you own?
"Counting colored denim — probably around 12 pairs."
Do you have a preferred philosophy when it comes to jeans: Sexy and skinny, or loose and comfy?
"My opinion has evolved over time. When I was younger, I definitely gravitated toward a tighter fit, and now I’m very into loose, worn styles with some character. I suspect this could change again."
Used or new?
"New. I love a vintage necklace, or fun dress, but for denim I’m a fan of giving fresh denim a great life."
What's your signature wash...or does it matter?
"Mood pending — stone-washed for an adventurous day, always."
What's your favorite way to wear your jeans and with what?
"I love a button-down, rolled jeans, and a flat; simplicity rules in my book."
If your jeans had a name or theme song, what would it be? Or do they?
"I’d go with a movie, and it would be The Way We Were — and the soundtrack’s not too bad either!"
Favorite example of celebrity-jean wearing (i.e., Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA album cover).
"Who else? Audrey Hepburn; strumming that guitar on the fire escape in ballet flats, bandana in hair and all."
What do you love most about your favorite denim pieces?
"They don’t talk back to me!"
