BJ: "Artist."
What were your first pair of jeans?
SJ: "White slim, straight-leg jeans by Gloria Vanderbilt with a black swan logo on the back pocket, probably in the seventh grade in Kansas City, MO."
BJ: "Super hard Levi's or Lee jeans, not sure which because I was four or five years-old. I think I remember them only because they were so painfully stiff and as rough as sandpaper."
First look SJ:"Black Express jeggings with an ocean-blue blouse by Blue Rain. Black wedges by Lanvin."
Second look SJ: "Blue Genetic jeans with a navy-blue, silk blouse by a French boutique called Maje. Nude pumps by LK Bennett."
First look BJ:"My blue cardigan sweater is by Jack Spade, the white V-neck T-shirt is by Calvin Klein. Socks by Muji."
Second look BJ:"Black jeans by Banana Republic and a pink dress-shirt was by J. Crew. The black blazer is by Helmut Lang."
How many pairs of jeans do you own?
SJ: "Twenty-four, but there could be more tucked away."
BJ: "Eighteen or so, if you count the green, gray, and yellow ones, too."
Do you have a preferred philosophy when it comes to jeans: Sexy and skinny, or loose and comfy?
SJ: "Definitely sexy, and they must fit and show my figure."
BJ: "In my studio, I prefer jeans to be a bit more roomy, so I can be more flexible. Everywhere else, skinny, though I don't like them tight."
Used or new?
SJ: "Always new."
BJ: "I always buy new jeans and them wear them out, eventually retiring them to be used in the studio."
SJ: "I like them all."
BJ: "No particular wash, but after that traumatic early childhood experience, I prefer them on the softer side."
What's your favorite way to wear your jeans and with what?
SJ: "Always with heels. Except when I wear them with flats or boots."
BJ: "On my legs and with a hint of irony."
If your jeans had a name or theme song, what would it be? Or do they?
SJ: "My husband says either "American Woman" by the Guess Who or "La Vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf."
BJ: "'River Man' by Nick Drake."

SJ: "Cheryl Crow."
BJ: "Robert Redford."
What do you love most about your favorite denim pieces?
SJ: "I feel sexy and confident in them."
BJ: "I don't have to over think them."
