"I’m all over the place. I used to have a clothing line called Duskin, but since I stopped doing it last May, I’ve been freelancing for other companies. Right now, I’m with Gryphon quite regularly. I’m also the Style Director of a new running journal called First Run launching next month that I’m really excited about. In addition, I also style and write."
What were your first pair of jeans?
"I have a terrible memory, but I believe they were hand-me-downs and were probably Jordache or Calvin Klein. I have three very stylish older sisters and two very frugal parents."
Shorts: "I’m wearing a Duskin tank and vintage Levi’s cut-offs. My ex bought them as jeans at one of those shops on Melrose in Los Angeles while we were on a road trip back in 2001 or 2002. They were always a bit on the tight side and he only wore them a handful of times. I inherited them when we broke up, but only started wearing them four years ago when I realized they looked better as shorts. I had always liked the wash on them, but they were never right as jeans on me. But once I cut them, I hardly took them off. They weren’t tattered at all back then — it just kind of happened in the last two years because I was wearing them every day and washed them all the time. I love them and will be really sad when I finally have to retire them."
Jeans: "I’m wearing a Duskin tank and blazer, my boyfriend’s J.Crew chambray shirt, Lanvin heels, and Acne jeans. I love these jeans — everything about them. The fit, the color, the texture of the pieces. Navy velvet — amazing. I started wearing patterned jeans years ago after buying a pair of tie-dyed ones from Built by Wendy. It’s a fun way to dress up a simple tank, which seems to have become my uniform as of late."
How many pairs of jeans do you own?
"I probably own about 30 plus, but wear only about five pairs in heavy rotation, two of which are the same. The others are just ones I have collected over the years and have a hard time letting go of."
Do you have a preferred philosophy when it comes to jeans: Sexy and skinny, or loose and comfy?
"Sexy and skinny or loose and comfy, whatever feels best. Each day is different for me."
Used or new?
"If it looks good, it doesn’t matter."
What's your signature wash...or does it matter?
"I don’t have a signature wash, and I don’t really think about it so much. I just go for whatever I like — so many variables."
What's your favorite way to wear your jeans and with what?
"Belted, around the house, with nothing on top."
If your jeans had a name or theme song, what would it be? Or do they?
"They absolutely do not."
What do you love most about your favorite denim pieces?
"Versatility — being able to dress them down or up."
