When we were kids, no hair accessory was cooler than those colorful plastic animal barrettes (you know — these). Since those days, we've more or less abandoned the barrette game, opting for more grown-up (read: non-accessorized) looks. Well, that's about to change, because we just stumbled on the cutest hair-accessory DIY, ever. Over at Whimseybox, founder Alicia DiRago is giving the scoop on how to make custom-lettered hairpins with alphabet pasta, glue, and spray paint — and we're definitely giving it a shot this weekend. (How could you not? It's literally so easy.) We agree with DiRago that the hardest part might be trying to settle on a word or phrase, but we're mulling over "bedhead" for starters. They'd make pretty cute gifts, whether you're whipping up neon versions for tween-age nieces or glittery variations for your BFFs. Find the full tutorial here; happy DIY'ing!
