We've come across My Body Gallery, a website that aims to help women take control of their insecurities by compiling images of every different size and shape to help reinforce the idea that that every body is different and one is no less beautiful than any other. Users can upload their own full-body images in any pose and input their height, weight, pant-size, and shirt-size information, as well as whether they are pear, apple, banana, or hourglass shaped. Through these images, the website also hopes to show users that they are many people with their size and shape and that they shouldn't feel alone or insecure about their bodies. So far, My Body Gallery has a very diverse range of users and seems to do well in showing that bodies come in all forms. However, empowering websites such as this are not without their flaws, as the diversity aspect could be easily skewed one way or another depending on the readership (as explored in our previous body-positive blogs post). Tell us what you think: Is My Body Gallery a good idea? Would you upload your own photo?
