Dunham Firestorm Inspires $10K Campaign For Women’s Empowerment

After last week’s media firestorm, in which Jezebel offered a $10,000 bounty for Lena Dunham’s untouched Vogue photos (and quickly made that acquisition), the feedback seems to have been a resounding, “Was that really necessary?!” (In case you are still wavering, maybe this article will sway you.)
Obviously, we weren't alone in questioning Jezebel’s salacious antics. It appears that an Indiegogo campaign has surfaced, seeking to raise $10,000 for women empowerment — you know, the opposite of sensationalizing female figures. The effort already has $2,195 of the $10,000 raised and runs for about 26 more days. The money circulated will then be donated to Step Up Women's Network, a non-profit geared towards helping girls and women in “under-resourced communities fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused and ready to join the next generation of professional women.” We’ll raise a glass donate to that.
