Downtown's status as the cultural hub of Los Angeles just got a further boost with the unveiling of The Broad, which is set to open in downtown L.A in 2013. The brainchild of mega-collector and philanthropist Eli Broad and his Broad Art Foundation, the gallery is sure to fit in well opposite our current fave, the Museum of Contemporary Art. The building will be designed by super-architects Diller Scofido + Renfro and will also have a vault to hold the entire collection, even the pieces that aren't on display. Seems L.A. is getting artier, and that's something we can all throw our support behind. (HuffPo)
