Rad Or Bad: Elle Fanning’s Creepy-Ballerina Beauty Look

We approach red eyeshadow with trepidation. Though we've seen it done really well (à la Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabbana), we've also seen it done really, uh, not so well — improper application can result in what looks like a nasty case of pinkeye. But, leave it to Elle Fanning to walk this fine line with confidence: The actress was spotted sporting exaggerated red eyeshadow at the London premiere of Maleficent.

What we find particularly striking about this look is the contrast of the shadow against Fanning's porcelain skin. Her complexion is beyond flawless — we'd venture to say doll-like — and the addition of this unnatural shade around the eyes makes her appear almost otherworldly. In fact, the usually fresh-faced Fanning has managed to look eerie and ethereal all at once. Might she usher in a new era of creepy-chic beauty?
