Founding Farmers has secured a place on our list of locavore-approved dining spots, thanks to their insanely good grub (light, seasonal, farm-inspired) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We’re talking awesomely reasonable prices — $7 for brandy crème brioche french toast with whipped farm butter and maple cinnamon syrup. Um, we’ll take it!
After all, that's what it costs for your basic breakfast dish at a gritty diner, not to mention the ambiance and experience. Plus, we always leave the charming spot feeling satiated, happy, and a little healthy, even when we’ve ordered the buttermilk fried chicken — the quality is that top notch.

So, we're pretty stoked that the airy downtown venue with communal tables is now serving breakfast during the work week. Monday through Friday mornings, you can pop in for a bellini and their famous house-made beignets, or go for the obvious dessert-masked-as-breakfast choice: carrot cake or red velvet pancakes, which involve the chef stirring cake batter into pancake mix to yield one helluva cake-pancake hybrid served with cream-cheese butter (for $8!).
Founding Farmers is located next to the World Bank, across the street from the IMF, and three blocks down from the White House and Corcoran Museum, which means it'll be a guaranteed hotspot for young professionals looking to chow down before work. So, break out of your workday rut and give up that bowl of Kashi (yawn) in favor of an affordable sit-down breakfast with colleagues or your significant other. We like to think of it as reverse happy hour... and suddenly, we're starving.
