In an age when new cycling studios pop up in NYC as often as Starbucks stores, even the most skeptical gym-goers among us realize there must be something behind the fitness trend. And, indeed, after pedaling through our first 45-minute SoulCycle class, we were officially hooked. The heart-pumping music, muscle-building moves, and motivational instructors combined to give us a rush of endorphins that was downright powerful — and highly addictive.
So, how would you like to ride for free? R29 is partnering with the fitness giant to give our lucky readers a free class at the brand-new SoulCycle studio on West 27th Street in NYC. It’s going down on October 16 at 6:30 p.m., so you need to act fast. Just enter your info here to reserve a spot!

And, that’s not all. Sweetgreen, the city’s most celebrated new salad shop, will provide a free meal to riders after the class — the perfect way to refuel after you’ve given your all on the bike.
If it’s your first class at Soul, here’s what you should know to be completely prepared to rock your first ride:
1. Arrive ready to sweat. "Just wear workout tights, a sports bra, and a loose tank top — anything you feel comfortable sweating in — and bring socks and a water bottle," says Lauren Bruker, a SoulCycle instructor in NYC. For the R29 riders, SoulCycle will provide shoes and towels for free!
2. Listen to your body. "This isn’t your typical spin class," Bruker says. "We do pushups on the handlebars and rock back over the saddle on the beat (tap backs)." But, don’t worry if you’re not exactly rhythmically blessed — no matter what fitness level you are, you can ride at SoulCycle, she says. Just watch the instructor and fellow riders, and you’ll get in the groove in no time.
3. Refuel the right way. "After class, eat something that makes your feel satisfied," Bruker says. Yogurt and granola, a smoothie, or a delicious salad with whole grains and lots of veggies are all good options.
Now that you know the ropes, go sign up for a night of fitness on us.
