3 Musicians Your Coolest Friends Haven’t Heard Yet

Following their breakout performances at SXSW and Bonnaroo, it took us about three seconds to realize that indie acts Chaos Chaos and Gabriel Garzón-Montano were the perfect stars for the second installment of X2, our music series with H&M profiling up-and-coming artists. Each has shared the stage with an impressive roster of talent — Chaos Chaos has toured with Cat Power, Death Cab for Cutie, and Sufjan Stevens, and Gabriel Garzón-Montano did a European stint with Lenny Kravitz. But, the footage above goes beyond their storied backgrounds and taps into what's truly unique about these performers. Most apparent is their shared downright refusal to buy into the stereotype that you must be miserable to create great art. While banging it out on a drum set, Chloe Saavedra of Chaos Chaos ruminates: "There's this image of the kind of sad artist that hunkers down in their depression and just makes these masterpieces, and that's how they work. But, for me, I work best when I'm really happy with my life." Watch on for more millennial music wisdom, and be sure to slip these two acts into your summer playlists — you'll definitely turn your indie-music cred up a notch.
