We've all heard about the Gangs of New York. The Gangs of S.F.? Not so much. But we're about to find out at tonight's opening of the Gangs of San Francisco boutique in Hayes Valley. The speakeasy-feeling shop, built by local DIY genius Kelly Malone, of Workshop fame, features loads of sustainable wood furnishings, along with quirky decor (vintage suitcases, old whiskey and wine cases) to give the place a charming, old time-y vibe. As for the merch, the shop specializes in silk-screened tees that illustrate a little history of the Bay Area's history and have a buttery soft, worn-in feel that's pretty unbeatable. An added incentive to attending the shindig: You're helping Malone kick cancer in the butt, thanks to $3 from every purchase going straight to her treatment, whereas 100% from the poignant "Take the Emo out of Chemo" tees will go straight to Malone. Good shopping, good cause, let's go!
