Hump Day just got a lot happier thanks to Hakkasan (like all that alliteration as much as we do?). The cult, London-based, high-end, world-renowned Chinese restaurant — the first and only Chinese restaurant in Europe with a Michelin star — has announced that it's bringing an outpost to NYC in early 2012.
The first culinary stop on all of our trans-Atlantic journeys, we'll no longer need a plane to deliver us their chic Cantonese cuisine. The New York location will be the seventh Hakkasan to open globally since the original Hanway Place set up shop in 2001, with recent unveilings in Mumbai, Miami Beach, and Abu Dhabi. While we resent the wait, it may be well worth it — the new, midtown Manhattan (311 West 43rd Street), multi-million dollar eatery, helmed by Hakkasan’s Corporate Development Chef, Ho Chee Boon, will have over 11,000 square-feet of space, with seating for 200 guests, plus a sleek bar featuring all of Hakkasan's signature cocktails, including, yes, that very potent Strawberry and Basil Martini. No question: This is guaranteed to be the hautest reservation to score in town, so we're encouraging you to stake out the site and befriend potential table hook-ups now. A Cantonese language class couldn't hurt, either.
