A Tequila-Infused Detox Massage? Yes, It’s A Thing (And It’s Awesome)

embed
When we hear "tequila sunrise," we're reminded of a few things: college, hangovers, and that one time on the beach when...(but we digress). Point is, our minds don't instantly jump to "massage." But now, they should. You see, Soho's Haven Spa has redefined a detox procedure with one unexpected ingredient. You guessed it: tequila.
The newly-added offering, which includes a cocktail before or after the rub, is relaxing and indulgent, stimulating the lymphatic system with kneads and cream in order to drain toxins. It uses light to medium pressure to rid your body of all that junky stuff (mainly tension, but also bacteria, from entering the bloodstream).

So, where does the tequila come in? Well, it's rubbed as the initial step in the process, mixing with sage oil in elongated strokes that leave your lymph nodes pure and om. And, like any good tequila shot, the routine is finished with a citrus. This time, though, it's an ultra-rich moisturizing cream infused with all-natural citrus oils. Sure, this 90-minute dream may give you a buzz — but it does so (mostly) the natural way. What's better than that?

The Tequila Sunrise Detox Massage, 90 minutes, $175, available at The Haven Spa, 150 Mercer Street (between Prince and Spring streets); 212-343-3515.
