Enter Helm Handmade Boots, a collection of seven styles of unisex utilitarian-chic boots by Texas designer Joshua Bingaman. Known in the Lone Star State for his coffee shop, which is basically Austin hipster central, Bingaman tempered his cowboy aesthetic with NYC inspirations, for silhouettes that are tough without being too tired, fashion-forward without being just a fad (we love the Jarmon, above, with waxed water resistant laces, Italian leather soles, and and vintage D-rings) . Handmade in Istanbul from materials like saddle-tan calf-skin, black Australian sheep-skin, and lots of suede from Holland, the boots can take you from a hike upstate to a date downtown—just remember to take a shower first.
