It usually takes a lot to make us go out on a Monday night (especially after a jam-packed weekend), but for the right cause, we'll make an exception. Tools for Thought, a charitable organization that brings artists together to provide aid and support for those in need, is hosting a silent auction tonight at Sotheby's that's worthy of trudging out in the rain with our wallets wide open. The event is bringing together over 100 artists and 200 members of the art community to support Partners in Health's reconstruction efforts in Haiti. The auction will feature work from visionaries like Terence Koh and Jeff Koons, with all proceeds benefiting the cause. Punk legend Patti Smith is set do an epic performance while hot downtown spot Apotheke will serve up specialty cocktails throughout the night. Even if you don't have enough dough to spring for a work of art, you can still feel good since the $100 ticket price supports efforts to rebuild Haiti (and it's tax deductible!). Art, music, and drinking for a cause... Happy Monday!
