Pedro Almodóvar, the Spanish filmmaker who gave the world a comatose female bullfighter, a pregnant nun, and charming drag queens on the silver screen, is ready for his close up...all of them. But not just any old photo would do for this spiky-haired man of La Mancha (and Oscar-winning force in international cinema). So fashion bi-annual Hercules dug around in Almodóvar's Roledex and asked a few of his close friends to lend their artistic talents to their latest issue. The results include a dreamy pastel portrait by Karl Lagerfeld, a good luck note from Tom Ford, a penciled Penelope Cruz (his current muse) and a kaleidoscopic spread by burgeoning artistic director (and fashion muse), Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. Even if you're not a fan of sex-crazed murderous matadors, how could you not love these interpretive riffs? Not bad company to keep.
