"High-end lingerie is too elaborate for [most] women," says Matthias Jaschke, designer of the new German lingerie line Wundervoll. "So, I felt there was a need for a collection that fulfilled the desires of fashion-savvy women with high-quality demands."
Launched just last month, Wundervoll offers luxurious under-things with a purpose and proves the theory that wearability can translate directly to sexiness. "I wanted to create a lavishly finished collection that impresses with clear design and fine details," Jaschke says. "Underwear that envelops the body without restricting it." The result is a debut collection infused with thoughtful references to mid-century '50s and '60s styles—there's a high-waisted brief accented with sailor-style buttons, a bra that comfortably corsets the torso, not to mention simple bikini briefs and triangle bralettes all artfully crafted in superfine jersey made from 100% Swiss silk yarn and finished with French seams.

Jaschke, who plans to use eco-friendly cotton in forthcoming collections, credits this no-fuss but no less innovate approach directly to the city where Wundervoll was founded—Berlin. "I think with its entrepreneurial spirit and creativity, Berlin is the best place to start something totally new," he says. Even underwear.
