Hot Web Series: New Show “Old Friends” Delivers Awkward NYC-Related LOLs

As Seinfeld and SATC have proven, New York City is the only place in the world that—in a city of 9,000,000 people—you repeatedly wind up running into "that person" at every bar, on every train, and crossing every street (no neighborhood is off limits, it seems). It is this anti-serendipity that provides a rich premise for actor-writer-producers Tim Curcio and Nick Ross' web series "Old Friends." The streaming series, like the beloved "Web Therapy" by Lisa Kudrow, banks on cringe-worthy awkward situations and oblivious participants for Internet-only laughs. The story follows Nick and Tim, two (real-life) New Yorkers who have very different recollections of the past—Nick took Tim's wife's virginity and recalls the two as being friends, while Tim obviously, hates Nick's guts. Hijinks ensue, and whip-smart dialogue and improv from these Upright Citizen's Brigade alums makes this show a must-watch. Check out the trailer below:
