Ike’s Place Eyeing A Berkeley Location And Partnership With The Original Soupman

Berkeley is about to get even tastier (if that's possible) thanks to the hypothetical addition of famed sandwich house, Ike's Place. Berkeleyside has it that Ike's Place owner Ike Shehadeh was in town last week looking for a location on Bancroft Way, near Bear's Lair Pub. This new location would be the fourth in the Bay, with a newly opened spot on 16th Street in the Castro joining a location on the Stanford campus and another on the Redwood Shores. The only thing holding him back? Berk's local government. “There’s a history with Berkeley in the way it treats small businesses,” Shehadeh tells the site. “Everyone speaks about it.” He also went on to say that he's thinking about partnering up with peeps from The Original Soupman on the project. Let's all cross our fingers to make this happen.
