She may not have the comeback potential and chart-topping album successes of her pop contemporaries' Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, but what Jessica Simpson does have might surprise you. If Jessica Simpson as fashion powerhouse has you scoffing, think again. WWD's Monday issue dedicated an entire section to Jessica's growing licensing empire that spans shoes, dresses, jeans, sportswear, fragrances, handbags, jewelry and intimate apparel, and if estimates hold true, the brand is set to make $1 billion by 2012. Jessica herself has no high-brow fashion aspirations, having been quoted as saying that she has no plans of designing a higher-end line, nor is she out of touch with what her line is—she knows that whatever trends that are in magazines now will most likely appear in her collections the year after. Yet it is this business savvy and awareness that has made her such a hit, if not at the music charts, then with retailers and shoppers. We peeped into her vast line and saw some actually stylish finds that we'd wear ourselves. Consider us closet fans.
