No, It’s Not A Muppet. It’s A Bag…And Iris Apfel Designed It

We've got endless admiration for Iris Apfel's fashion chutzpah and her "geriatric starlet" (her words, not ours) presence in the industry. But, with the release of Apfel's newest handbag collection, we're scratching out heads a bit because, well, doesn't this tote remind you of someone? Like, Elmo, perhaps?
Following her collection of for eyewear for Eyebobs and jewelry for HSN, the 90-year-old's handbag line will launch in the fall, offering 12 styles in varied colors and include a signature Big Bird dodo-bird hangtag. The line, "Extinctions," will also spare no plush or lush materials as it features a mix of Mongolian lamb, haircalf, and snakeskin in a range of selections that are not all quite as Muppet-y as the one seen here.

About her newest design venture, the elderly style star tells WWD that, “The old bag is getting into bags.” With this quirky anecdote, it's really hard to resist that Apfel charm — even if you're still a little, um, fuzzy about your feelings on the handbags. (WWD)
