Dame Diane has been on fire lately, appearing on the cover of Purple with perfect fishnet-clad legs and that iconic Margiela wig jacket. In some ways, her fall '09 show was a celebration of all those feel-good feelings that have been resonating. From the giant pom-pom hats (kind of cool on the runway, less practical for real life) to massive cocoon coats done up in hot pinks and purples, there was not an inkling of recession on the DvF runway. Olivier Zahm, Carine Roitfeld, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Julia Stiles (making her first of only a few show appearances, she told us pre-show), Natalia Vodianova with her kids in tow, and yes, even the fierce (because really, that is the only word that can aptly describe her) Diana Ross were on hand to share in Diane's victory as she took a full spin around the runway. Now our only question is: Where the hell were Whitney and Olivia? Oh, that's right: perhaps backstage "working" the show. Too bad in the house of DvF, there's only one diva who's ever really working it, gold metallic gowns and all.
