Would You Carry A September 11 Handbag?

This year will mark the tenth anniversary of the September 11th bombings, and like all major events, a slew of memorabilia—both meaningful and tasteless—is surfacing around the date. NYC designer Jen Mascali is in on the trend with the "Remember" bag, a red leather tote with contrasting straps that features the words "“Each life is a miracle that changes the world and leaves it a better place than it was before," printed on a flame that's part of the fringe detailing. Unless every cent of profit is going to charity, we're not sure if we're okay with endorsing a 9/11 handbag, but Mascali and her brother, co-designer Chris—who lost their father, firefighter Joe Mascali in the attacks—are donating their entire wholesale portion of proceeds to the 9/11 Memorial Fund. What say you? Are you down with 9/11 fashion, or is it always too soon?
