"Work-life balance" is one of those buzzy phrases that's rarely quantified. However, for Jodie Patterson, with five kids and two beauty businesses to juggle, that high-level efficiency is a function as essential as breathing. The former PR guru got plenty of experience multitasking by running the show as PR director at Zac Posen. But, it wasn't until she watched a documentary on the business of natural hair care that she decided to make her own mark in the beauty industry. Like the passionate go-getter she is, Patterson opened a cosmetics boutique in Soho (which she ultimately turned into an online store called DooBop) and spearheaded the creation of her own organic beauty line, Georgia.
Inspired by her ambition — and, might we add, amazing style — we tapped Patterson for The List: our series with T.J. Maxx spotlighting women whose careers, passions, and abilities to do a million things a day are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Coming up soon, keep your eyes peeled for an in-depth interview with Patterson and a photo shoot in her surreal Brooklyn brownstone (her one-of-a-kind decor and playful-meets-polished wardrobe are can't-miss attractions). In the meantime, check out the video above to learn more about how Patterson's entrepreneurial visions have unfolded, plus the five things she does every day to feel fulfilled and maintain her calm, even at the center of the storm. We don't know about you, but if we got three down, we'd feel pretty accomplished.
