If your food-loving friends happen to live in D.C., then they're probably pretty smitten with celeb-chef José Andrés, the Spanish gourmand behind Jaleo, Oyamel, America Eats Tavern, and Zaytinya. And while you probably can't score your loved ones a reservation at Minibar, Andrés' impossible-to-get-into venue, you can surprise them with the next best thing: a four-star cook's keepsake signed by the man himself.
On Wednesday, head to the Bethesda outpost of Jaleo to meet Andrés and score an autograph on one of his two cookbooks, his DVD, or the Tapas Deck, a set of 50 recipe cards highlighting his best small plates. Bonus: You can buy the giftable goods on-site, which might make this the most painless present-idea ever. Tapas will be served, and you can partake in happy hour specials including $4 small plates, plus beer, sangria, wine, and cocktails that range from $10 to $14. Savory and simple? Sign us up.
When: Wednesday, December 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Jaleo, 7271 Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda; 301-913-0003. Call for reservations.
