We really, truly love the zoological wonders of the crowds that came out to view the latest clothes by fashion's most dangerous designer; flowers in hair paired with chained necklaces; men in heels; this guy. The show in the seats could almost outshine the show on the catwalk. Almost Opening the show to the song "Nibelungen" by Nico, all eyes were on Kai Kühne's latest offerings. In suitably dramatic style, his intricate folds of signature minimalism showed up on cocktail dresses, circular short shorts, and softly structured vests in silks, metallics, linens, and sheers. Models wearing relaxed blazers, bangles of thick Lucite swirls, and carrying driftwood clutches by Ron Asche seemed to signal the beginning of a cooler, more glamorous sort of slouch. Backstage Kai told us he felt a mixture of "Happiness, relief, and confidence," with the unveiling of his collection. So, does a new financial backer and solid turn-out mean that Kai has lost his innate naughtiness? We sure hope not.
