Karl Lagerfeld’s New Line Will Include His Face On Underwear Waistbands

Got a few seconds to count with us? Cool — so there's Chanel, and Fendi, and his eponymous line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, Hogan accessories, as well as diffusion lines for H&M and Macy's (not to mention all the one-off projects like his Karl Lagerfeld Karleidoscope fragrance, Diet Coke redesign, Magnum ice cream,, Volkswagon, Orrefors glassware, S.T. Dupont writing instruments…etc.). That's what, like 50 things?
Make that 51. Adding to the "designed by Karl Lagerfeld" roster is new line, Karl, that'll be priced in a pretty reasonable $95 to $450 range. The line will debut on Net-a-Porter on January 25, and will feature 100 women's pieces that are described as "street" and "rock" (as well as "ageless"). WWD further hints at specific pieces, including a pair of underwear with Karl's visage dotting the waistband (how "street" of him!). Karl's personal lines haven't always received the same acclaim as his work for established houses, but we think the designer's got some more juice left in him. A men's collection will follow in the fall. (WWD)
