Wearing a silver feathered Chanel Haute Couture gown, Kirsten Dunst won the Best Actress award for Lars von Trier's Melancholia at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, despite the controversy over the director's Nazi-related comments. "What a week!" Dunst said after accepting the award. "My thanks to the jury, this is a real honor. I'm grateful to the Festival for keeping the film in competition. And I'm grateful to Lars von Trier for letting me play the role with such freedom." Von Trier was expelled from the festival last week after stating in a press conference that he understands and sympathizes with Hitler. Dunst wore a lace Chanel Haute Couture dress at a previous event, making her a top contender for a Best Dressed award. (IBT)
