We heard you're opening a new store, congrats! What can we expect from Kyle by Alene Too? Will there be any beauty products?
“All of my favorite designers will be in stock like Haute Hippie, Parker, Hudson Jeans, Missoni, and J Brand. And, who knows — maybe we'll branch out to beauty some day, but right now I'm having a ball working with Debbie Weisman and Lizzy Schwartz.”
What's your beauty mantra in five words or less?
“When in doubt, do without!”
You look phe-nom-en-al! What's your key to staying fresh-faced and young?
“Eating right and exercising — what you put in your body reflects what you look like on the outside.”
How do you stay fit?
“I love hiking, spinning, and yoga — and I try to fit them in whenever I can. My yoga teacher has been coming to my house lately. It really keeps me calm and I feel a huge difference in my body.”
Do you have an ultimate "fountain of youth" product?
“Water — I have to force myself to drink it. I can see a big difference in my skin when I don't drink enough."
What's your number one super-sneaky beauty trick?
“A spray tan — it makes me look thinner. Oh, and my individual lashes that make my eyes stand out.”
Do you have a specific spray tan that you swear by?
“I used to go to the tanning booth once a week, but lately I've been using L'Oréal Sublime Bronze — it gives me a really good color and saves time.”
Where's the best blowout in all of L.A.?
“Pamella Brogardi, her Twitter handle is @hairbypamellab.”
Have you ever tried extensions?
“I don't wear extensions — I think they destroy your hair.”
What's your favorite salon in L.A.?
“I only go to Pamella for my hair — she even comes to my house to save time.”
Can you dish on your fave facial?
“Carina, who was on season one of RHOBH. She's the only person I go to!”
Read on for Richards' weirdest beauty treatment, how she spends a typical day, and the opportunity to hang with her at her own swanky soirée!
What's the weirdest beauty treatment you've ever done in Lala Land?
“Hands down, it's my facial! Carina puts a mask on me that makes me look like Hannibal Lecter!”
What's your go-to beauty-supply store?
“Most of my stuff I can buy at the local pharmacy — I love L'Oréal mascara, eye shadow, and tanning products. I will go to Sephora to buy makeup as well.”
Where do you go for the best mani and pedi?
“There's a place right across the street from my store called Beverly Hills Nail Design — but, when I don't have time, I have a mobile manicurist come to me.”
Would you ever consider your own beauty line?
“Yes, I would. I've always loved makeup since I was a little girl. I always do my friends' and daughters' makeup, so you never know!”
What's your biggest beauty indulgence?
“My philosophy for beauty is that less is more. For example, I don't put product in my hair because it takes away the shine. So, I guess my biggest beauty indulgence would be the creams I use for my face.”
Do you have any funny low-brow beauty tendencies that aren't totally glamorous?
“On a regular night at home I will put my St. Ives Mineral Clay Firming Mask and my bleaching trays. Not a good look, but it gets the job done.”
What items are always worth splurging on, and what items do you go to for the best deal?
“For some reason the expensive mascaras never work for me! The drugstore mascaras are the best, especially L'Oréal. I splurge on my foundation, which is Make Up For Ever's HD Invisible Cover Foundation — I won’t try to save money on that!”
What are your best pieces of advice to give a twentysomething to keep her looks intact?
“Don't smoke and don't over-process your hair. Smoking ages you, as does frying your locks.”
How has life changed since being on RHOBH?
“My life has changed a lot, but everything at home has stayed exactly the same. There are many times I regret doing the show, but overall I have to say we have a lot of fun shooting."
Can you walk us through your average day when you're not filming?
“I wake up 6 a.m. and get my kids to school at 7, 7:30, and 9 a.m. I run around in the morning like a crazy person! I try to do yoga, spinning, or hiking before I head over to the store. After work, I pick up my kids. Of course, if I'm shooting that day, it will take up the majority of my time. When I do have a chance to relax, I love to go to the Hollywood Bowl or Malibu for shopping and beach visits. My favorite restaurants are La Scala, Mr Chow, Il Pastaio, and Villa Blanca, Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant.”
Any secrets you can let us in on about next season?
“This season is just like the others — no shortage of drama, but you also see a lot of fun and glamour!”
Is there any advice you'd give to someone starting out on a future Real Housewives show?
“Stay true to yourself no matter what, and ignore the negativity.”
