Normally a one-of-a-kind chandelier isn't the most realistic item on our home decor wish list, but add a charitable cause that's close to our heart and we're all over it. Langoliers, the NY-based jewelry house and R29 fave, has crafted a 6-foot by 12-foot hand-knitted metal and chiffon chandelier that's not just dramatically beautiful, but is also socially conscious. Langoliers designer Pamela Liou is donating 100% of profits from the auction to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief fund. Additionally, 10% of the final sale will go to the American Red Cross.
Is the price high? Yes. But if you have the funds to spend, we can't think of a more worthy cause/conversation piece. Even if the disaster isn't in your backyard, there are plenty of photos floating around to show you how much help is really needed. To bid on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a super, super-unique work of art and help out this cause, head to Langoliers' eBay auction page to start off the bidding. Let there be light! (Lots of it.)
