L.A.’s Best Cold-Weather Haunts

With phase two of our rain-pocalypse coming down, bothering to do anything outside of the house at all can seem like a hassle... but finding a cozy place to hang out could save you from weather-induced gloom! If you find yourself out stuck in the muck or at home getting cabin fever, we have some warm local corners to while away the rainy hours.

The Aero Theater
If you've already seen every decent movie out, mix it up with some classic favorites at this west side outpost for the American Cinemateque. Screwball comedies one night, West side Story in glorious 70 mm another, nothing can escape you from the cold weather better than a night at the movies.

The Aero Theater, 1328 Montana Avenue (at 14th St) Santa Monica; 310-260-1528.

The Los Angeles Public Library
Turn off your blackberry and pick up a book! Or, if you're too antsy to flip pages, take a walk around art deco labyrinth that is the Los Angeles Public Library. The high metal gates, Egypt-inspired doors, the Children's Courtyard with its lotus flower fountain and bas-reliefs fictional characters, and the emanating light of the enormous cast-bronze globe chandelier ringed by the zodiac is sure to enchant. Our Central Library is an architectural revelry you can get lost in for hours.
