Dish
Stepping into this Hayes Valley staple is like hitting the jackpot in local shopping terms. Not only is it way outside the corporate-filled mall, but it also carries made-in-the-Bay sartorial treasures. From Ali Golden frocks to Herringbone clutches, Dish curates the most top-of-the-line pieces created here at home. Um, we’re pretty sure browsing here is a gift in and of itself.
Dish Boutique, 514 Hayes Street (between Octavia and Laguna streets); 415-252-5997.
Gravel & Gold
Don’t expect to find anything familiar in this Mission boutique. Gravel & Gold is known for stocking the most off-the-cuff pieces — boob-embellished tote, anyone? The originality of merch completely alleviates the worry surrounding that friend who already has everything. And once Saturday comes to an end, we think revisiting the shop will be a mighty hard yearning to ignore.
Gravel & Gold, 3266 21st Street (at Lexington Street); 415-552-0112.
La Boutique L'Art et La Mode
Sure, we’re all hoping to unwrap a ticket to Paris for the holidays, but that’s more than likely not in the cards. C’est la vie! Thankfully, there’s La Boutique L’art et La Mode to provide the Parisian threads minus the jet lag. As the name suggests, the space is half gallery, half Euro-centric shop, and full-on amazing.
La Boutique L’Art et La Mode, 414 Jackson Street, Suite 101 (at Sansome Street); 415-693-9950.
Curiosity Shoppe
Need more options for that friend who seemingly has everything? Yeah, we secretly envy her, too. But good news: Curiosity Shoppe is chock-full of the most obscure knicks and knacks that even Santa’s elves couldn’t have dreamt up! So, whether you’re looking to wrap a rhinosaurus-shaped cutting board for the foodie or a ukulele-making kit fit for the musically inclined, expect to see some happily shocked faces once it’s time for pressies.
Curiosity Shoppe, 855 Valencia Street (between 19th and 20th streets); 415-671-5384.
