For most fashion types, the term 'fashion week baby' refers to the small paunch that results from a prolonged and ill-advised diet of canapes, Champagne and hastily wolfed down fast food between shows. But Margherita Missoni has taken things further by delivering a real life fashion week baby. Fitting, no?
On Friday, the fashion heiress gave birth to her first child, Otto Hermann Amos. The name Otto, which is also the Italian word for 'eight', pays tribute to Ottavio Missoni, Margherita's grandfather who died earlier this year.
Baby Otto, who represents the fourth generation of the Missoni dynasty, arrived a full 10 days after his due date meaning that, rather aptly, he was both fashionably late and arrived during the second day of New York Fashion Week. With this kind of strutting entrance into the world we have high fashion hopes for the tiny new Missoni member.
Margherita and and her racing driver husband Eugenio Amos announced their news via Twitter and Instagram on Saturday. A photo of the baby in question is yet to emerge, but Margherita did Instagram some incredible Otto-emblazoned knitwear (no surprises there). Is it weird that we'd totally be working that baby jumper if it was in a slightly bigger size? Probably...
Anyhow, congratulations to the happy couple!
