As part of Chanel's latest retrospective movement, the brand has re-imagined its long love affair with Marilyn Monroe. The high-end French house's new historical site, Inside Chanel, features "Marilyn & No.5," an archival video chronicling Monroe's relationship with the famed perfume. In it, the silver-screen legend can be seen name-dropping Chanel all around Hollywood.
In a 1952 interview with LIFE, Monroe, a mere 26-year-old, stated her sleepwear involved "some drops of No.5." Just No. 5 (wink, wink), and nothing else. This was the icon's first mention of the equally iconic perfume, however, not the last. She later posed for sensual photographs in bed, and there, on her nightstand, stood a single bottle of No. 5.

The unique, beautiful footage of Monroe makes for a stunning retrospective. The video's mysterious, semi-haunting tagline, "For eternity," shows Monroe's intense relationship with the brand was truly an affair to remember and relive.
