Being raised in New Hampshire and Cape Cod and going to college in Maine, I am a guy who has owned many a peacoat.
This one from D&G, however, is by far the best I have ever owned.
I bought it at a sample sale about five years ago where I found it slumped on the floor, having fallen off the hanger. Once I picked it up and tried it on, I didn’t take it off until I got home. I had the same feeling as when I went on my first date with my boyfriend of eight years. This was the one!!

It’s warm without being heavy, and the cut is slim but still fits comfortably over a blazer or suit jacket. I love the hand warmer pockets at mid-chest, because it's just like the authentic peacoats from the Navy. Plus, the Anchor buttons are real cool.
It's hard not to put this coat on everyday because it goes with everything and is so comfortable. I even wear it backwards on overnight flights, so it doubles as a blanket. People may look at me kinda weird, but who cares. I’m warm and toasty (and fashionable).
I even wrote thank you notes to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for the handsome design and flattering cut. But I never mailed them because I thought that was a little creepy...
